Tutorial – Realistic bling bling tutorial!

Thinking of icing yourself out but lack the funds? Here’s a tutorial to ice yourself out without emptying your bank account. There’s many ways of mimicking the bling effect but this is one of my favorite ways.
First off make sure your resolution is on 72 pixels/inch, if your not sure how to check for it go to image then image size then you will see the resolution option present.
1. Add your text.
Open up the psd file I provided and type in the text you want to use to bling out. Obviously I choose my own name. Make sure you have a respectable font size, I recommend around 72 or bigger for better results and quality.

2. Adding a gradient fill.
Double click the bling layer to open up the styles menu and add a gradient fill with the gradient I provided in the PSD. Once applied to your text make sure you change the angle to -49 degrees linear. This will tilt the gradient to give the shine effect on the finished product.

3. Adding a stroke.
Now on the same style menu, add a stroke with a black to white gradient fill (see image below).

4. Color overlay and Satin.
Now add a color overlay with a 25% opacity white. Then add a satin, choose “Overlay” on blend mode and a color white. 136 degree on angle, 4px on both distance and size and a slope contour.

5. Beveling.
Now we come to adding a bevel option, so click the bevel option and use the settings below, this will make the text pop up and look more 3D.

6. Contour and Texture.
Now we get to the final and most important step which creates the actual bling effect. These two option the “contour” and “texture” are located under the bevel option. Check both boxes and start with the Contour first. Very simple, just add a rounded step contour like the image shown below.
Now we add the texture, the texture you choose can make or break your effect, I found the wrinkle pattern works best which comes default with Photoshop. give the texture a scale of 7% and depth of -75 and were done!
7. Results.
Your finished text should now look like this.
8. Creativity.
Now we get creative with the final image, I’ve added a silver chain and three sparkles in which I provided in the psd, Once you get the desired look, flatten the whole image (layer -> flatten image) then apply a sharpen filter to it once, that will bring out the bling even more.
Enjoy!
